MARBLE TABLE
Architect and designer Sophie Dries designed the SHATTER CONSOLE that is hand made by the British Welder and Carpenter Michael Moore (Atelier Moore).
She plays on the contrast between traditional materials and contemporary lines combining with an experimental construction process. Sophie Dries explores the difference between the raw and the delicate, the precious and the primitive, the luxurious and the barbarian.
The calacatta marble tablet is a precious and rare material that has been broken on its edges with a hammer and a chisel, away from the edge of smooth and usual geometrized tables. The patinated steel frame fits the edges of the jagged stone to precision, as no console shall be identical to another.
